Domain privacy and security is as important to us as it is to you. Without domain privacy, your private and sensitive information may be collected and displayed in ICANN’s WHOIS database when you register your domain. Domain privacy ensures that these details are hidden from the public view. Our Domain Privacy + Protection package will make ICANN display our contact information in lieu of yours.

The 5 Step Process To Transfer A Domain

1. Know Where to it needs to be Transferred to

Something you have to know before you go any further is where you are going to be transferring the domain to. If you use ITX Design to purchase your domain or to have it transferred to it will only cost you around $7 to make this happen. When you transfer a domain name with ITX Design you also get a full year of registration as well.

2. Log in to your Account

If you are using ITX Design you can log in to your account and go to the section that is called Domains. This will have a section that is called Transfer Domains to ITX Design and this is where you will follow the instructions to help you do exactly that. If you are using a different registrar it should be very similar and you will find the Transfer a Domain section in the Domain Management section.

3. Choose the Domain and Pay

Now all you have to do is type the domain name into the box and select to go forward with the transaction. If the domain name you have typed in is available to be transferred you will be able to proceed to the checkout area, pay for your transfer, and you will get the codes you need to have your transfer completed.

4. Enter the Transfer Codes

5. The Alternative Step

Once I Register A Domain Name How Long Does It Last Can It Be Renewed

When you register a domain name, you’re able to use it for the period of time you registered it for, which is typically between one to ten years. If you want to keep using the domain name and any of the services associated with it you need to renew the domain name registration prior to its expiration.

So It Has Passed The Renewal Date What Happens Next

How do I renew my hosting or domain names?

After the renewal date has lapsed the domain will go through three stages:

Stage 1 – Expired: :

The domain has expired and the Registrants rights have lapsed. During this period the domain is placed on-hold.

The domain will cease to work

Sometime’s the Registrar parks the domain so visitors to the domain will see a Domain Expired web page which often includes pay-per-click advertising links.

Registrars can choose to keep a domain in this stage between 1 to 45 days. Most Registrars use between 28 and 45 days for their Expired status. A domain name in the Expired status can still be renewed quickly and inexpensively for the cost of a one year registration.

Stage 2 – Redemption Grace Period

If the domain has still not been renewed it moves from the Expired stage to the Redemption Grace Period . This will be for 30 additional days after the EXPIRED stage. This 30-day period is controlled by ICANN and cannot be changed. Once a domain falls into RGP it becomes much more expensive to retrieve and renew. As Stage 1 can be 1 to 45 days, the total number of days for Stage 2 after the renewal date can be 30 to 75 days. A domain cannot be renewed after Stage 2

Stage 3 – Pending Delete

If the domain has still not been renewed after Stage 2 it enters the third and final stage Pending Delete. At this point the domain cannot be redeemed or renewed.

Can You Renew A Domain Through A Different Company

I have a .com domain that is expiring soon . Can I renew my domain through a different company or is it stuck with my current registrar?

    • Didn’t know that, updated.

You can indeed renew a .com domain through another registrar – it’s basically just a normal transfer process.

Providing your domain name is not locked, you can transfer it to a new registrar now and pay for an additional year of registration at the same time .

Because transfers can take a couple of days to process though, if I were you I’d do this ASAP so your domain doesn’t end up expiring in the process.

If your domain is locked at your current registrar, you’ll need to unlock it by logging in to your registrar’s control panel. You can also grab your authorization key at the same time, because you’ll need that to initiate the transfer. While you’re there also double check your registrant e-mail address is up-to-date, because you’ll need to approve the transfer through there as well.

Checking each of these above items will ensure the transfer proceeds smoothly and in time. Once you’ve done this, initiate the transfer and renewal through your new registrar.
