Why Would You Want To Change Domain Registrars
All registrars are not created equal, which leads many to wonder how to transfer your domain name. Each company has different resources and restrictions, while offers offer unique tie-in products and maintain different prices.
Some lower-end companies offer cheap or free domains, but dont allow you to manage your own DNS. Other companies will offer inexpensive tie-in products, but overcharge you on the cost of the domain, or provide little to no support for those tie-in products.
Lastly, as with anything in life, things change. A company you might have liked in the past could change their policies and prices. Maybe you had one too many bad run-ins with their tech support department, or maybe you just received a better deal somewhere else. We all have to mind our budgets, after all.
GoDaddys support teams have heard all of these reasons, and more, when people request to transfer their domains. With award-winning, industry-leading, 24/7 tech support, competitively priced domains and a full suite of tie-in products such as Microsoft Office 365 and WordPress Hosting GoDaddy is the smart call when youre ready to transfer you domain name.

Use An Escrow Service For The Safe Transfer Of The Funds And Domain
When buying or selling a domain online, using a licensed and bonded escrow service will reduce the risk for both the buyer and the seller.
Using an escrow service to handle your domain name sale guarantees you get paid and the buyer gets their domain. All of the domain name marketplaces and auction sites referenced throughout this guide offer their own, free escrow service as part of their platform so when you sell a domain name through one of these sites, all you have to do is make sure you are able to transfer your domain name the moment it sells.
But if you sell your domain name through direct negotiation with a buyer or you are using the service of a brokerage firm you should always transact through a licensed escrow company.
The way a domain name escrow works is that both parties agree to the terms of the transaction, which include the domain name and sale price. The buyer will then have to submit a payment for the agreed amount into the escrow account. Once the escrow service has verified and secured the payment, you are instructed to transfer the domain name to the buyer. Once the buyer confirms they have possession of the domain the funds will be released to you.
The most commonly used escrow companies for domain names sales are Escrow.com and Payoneer Escrow.

Prepare To Transfer The Domain Safely And Easily
Before continuing with the domain transfer, keep in mind that when a domain name is transferred away, the nameservers associated with your domain stay the same during its transfer from one registrar to the other. For example: if your domain name is using the default nameservers of GoDaddy, those nameservers will be preserved during the domain transfer, and thus you will not be able to change the nameservers until the transfer is complete.
This means that if you switched to another web hosting provider and your website was already migrated, make sure that your domain name is pointed to the new hosting provider before initiating a domain transfer. Again, you wont be able to change the nameservers until the domain transfer is complete.
Domain Name Registration and Web Hosting are separate services. The domain name transfer process will not migrate your website automatically. If you are a FastComet customer and you wish to transfer your website from GoDaddy, please submit a migration request from your client area. Our transfer experts will move your existing sites and emails free of charge, seamlessly, and with no downtime.
Special Offer:Once the domain name transfer is completed you can take advantage of our special offer. We will renew your domain for one year free of charge.
How To Transfer A Domain Out Of Your Godaddy Account Using Account Change
To transfer a domain from your GoDaddy account to another GoDaddy account, you will need to perform an Account Change. This moves ownership of the domain name from one GoDaddy account to another. Make sure you only do so after you have been instructed to do so by Escrow.com, when the funds are secured in our Escrow.com.
Before you get started, the buyer will need to supply you with their email address and customer number of their account. This is used to initiate the Account Change. The buyer can access your customer number from the profile drop down menu in the top right corner of GoDaddy. Their account number will be displayed differently depending on how they accessed the profile dropdown menu:
