- Square Online is only available in a few select countries. The list is expanding, but customers all over the globe should take note.
- While WordPress has low initial prices, there are super-high renewal prices.
- Zyros first-year prices are also lower, though the renewals are not as expensive as WordPress.

Many questions might pop up when choosing a domain name on Shopify. To make this process simpler for you, we recommend keeping in mind the following framework:
- Choose an easy-to-remember name so customers can find your store easily and refer you to others.

- Keep your domain name under 15 characters
- Avoid combining numbers and words. For example, avoid tshirts4you.com.

- Use social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok to find domain name alternatives.

How To Choose A Top
A top-level domain name is something that comes at the end of your web address. For example, in google.com, the .com is the top-level domain name. Again, you have several options to choose from. A few of these include .org,.edu,.info, and .net.
You might have noticed there are several businesses using .com as their TLD name. This is THE most used TLD name. In fact, according to Statista, 54% of global websites used the .com top-level domain name. Since it is used so often, it also reduces your chances of getting it for your online store. However, dont end your search just yet!
According to Statista, 54% of global websites used the .com top-level domain name.
To choose a suitable TLD which isnt limited to .com start with the purpose of your website. Considering you have an ecommerce store, .store can be a great option for you.
Another option is to use your country code. If you are running your T-shirt store only in a specific country or region, it makes sense to use the country code. So, for running a store in the States, try qualitytshirts.us.
Defining the purpose, being location-specific, and factoring in SEO are a few ways to find an ideal TLD. If you cant find a suitable TLD for your preferred domain name, it may be best to select a different name.
Prepare Domain To Transfer
Provide the new host with the following information:
- The domain name you want to transfer.
- The authorization code or EPP code for your domain name
Once Shopify has this information, they will be able to begin the transfer process. It can take up to 10 days to complete the transfer, so be patient.
The next step is to access your domain names management panel and remove all records associated with the old host.
You can now add the records for Shopify. Be sure to follow the instructions provided carefully, as there can be specific requirements to transfer the domain to Shopify.
Also, be sure to keep your Shopify domain name registrar account information up to date, as this will be needed to manage your domain in the future. Finally, check your Shopify settings to ensure they suit your needs.

Does Shopify Give You A Domain
If you are soon to start an eCommerce store on the Shopify platform, then you are going to need a domain. A home on the internet, a URL, and a way to brand your new business. But is a domain given to you for free by Shopify? Or is this something you will need to factor into your expenses?
So, does Shopify give you a domain? No Shopify does not give you a custom domain name for your Shopify store. You will need to purchase this from Shopify or an external third party which you will then need to connect. However, Shopify do provide a free domain extension that you can use to run your store. Here your domain will end in .myshopify.com.
So while does not give you a custom domain in the traditional sense, you can get set up and running without purchasing a branded domain.
Whilst buying a custom domain is this is the advised option, the free extension does mean you can test the platform before you commit .

- Then, change the Record with the IP address: cpanel.yourdomain.com

If Youre A Bit Tech Savvy And Have Used Domains Before Thats Fine
And if youre a complete noob when it comes to DNS settings and name servers, maybe sticking to Shopify is the best option for you.
2) Buy your domain inside of Shopify
Within Shopify theres an option where you can buy a domain and they will register it for you and set everything up correctly. Shopify will also automatically request an SSL certificate for you which is required to encrypt your store whenever you accept credit card payments.
However, you cant register all domain endings. So if you want a local domain ending like .de or .es or something exotic, youll have to use a third party service like GoDaddy to get those domain names.
At the end of the day both options are great.
Ive used Shopify as well as third party services to buy domain names and it was straight forward in both cases. Buying the domains directly within Shopify always gave me less technical headaches though.
None of this is rocket science, it just needs to get done.
So ask yourself whats more important: Saving money or having less technical headaches?
That should point you in the right direction.

How To Buy A Domain Name From Shopify
To buy a Shopify domain, here are some steps you should follow:
When you select a Shopify plan, you have to make monthly payments to keep your store running.
The best part here is that the cost of using Shopify domains is fairly affordable, at only $14 per year for .com domains. You can have a basic plan at $29 per month or an upgraded plan at $79 per month.
Should I Buy My Domain Through Shopify
If you take our advice and decide to get your own custom domain name you have three options:
If you donât have a preference for a domain registrar itâs probably easiest to buy your domain directly from Shopify. Their pricing is competitive with other domain registrars although you might be able to save a couple of dollars by shopping around. Based upon your technical prowess youâll have to decide whether saving a couple of bucks is worth the extra time and hassle setting up your domain to point to Shopify.
The main advantage of buying direct from Shopify is that Shopify will automatically set up your domain for you so you donât need to get into setting up DNS records.
The main disadvantage is that Shopify does not provide email accounts as part of its domain service. However, you can use Googleâs G Suite or Zoho Mail for your email accounts and easily connect them to Shopify. If you prefer to use other email hosting providers Shopify will support them but youâll need to be willing to play around with your domainâs MX records.
