Transfer Domain From Network Solutions To Wix
As a Wix Website Designer, I often help clients move their websites to the Wix platform from other hosting providers. Wix is so much easier to edit and design, so this is a frequent request. Sometimes, clients also want to move their domain registration to Wix at the same time to keep things simple. I was just working on sending instructions to a client about transferring a domain from Network Solutions to Wix but then I discovered that we cant transfer domains from Network Solutions to Wix. Why? Read on….
It is true, you cannot transfer Network Solutions registered domains to Wix because apparently Wix is a reseller of Network Solutions Domains.
This is news to me! Ive transferred other domains from GoDaddy and other registrars to Wix, before, so this was a surprise. Its too bad because it’s nice to have it all in one place! I suppose one could transfer a Network Solutions domain to GoDaddy or another registrar first and THEN transfer it to Wix, but that would take some time and work to transfer it twice . I wonder if they may make this possible down the road?
Typically to transfer a domain to Wix you have to request the domain from the registrar that you want to move it too, unlock the domain on the current registrars end, then verify the transfer through a series of emails from the registrar and ICANN to verify that the transfer is authorized and legitimate. It typically takes about 10 days for this process and a couple of email steps to verify the transfer.

Templates The More The Merrier
- GoDaddy website builder offers 22 templates that are versatile and allow using the same content with a different layout.
- Squarespace offers over 110 templates, which are not a one-size-fits-all and are crafted specifically for different websites.
- Both website builders offer beautiful options, however, the level of functionality between them differs.
A good template is a great starting out point for a user with no design experience.
Lets take a look at how these website builders compare:
The major difference between GoDaddy vs Squarespace is the way templates work.
The templates on GoDaddy are pretty basic and nothing out of the ordinary. You know, theyre⦠there. And they get the job done. You have the opportunity to choose from 22 templates that mainly differ in the sites layout. They will simply take your existing content, and change the way it looks and behaves.
I do like how easy it is to swap themes and see your content presented afresh. Itâs a simple way to edit the websiteâs style and feel at a press of a button.
Moving on to Squarespace, there are 113 templates to choose from, and different from GoDaddy, theyre very visually diverse. Instead of having different layouts, youâll be given massive example sites, different in their style, visuals, and even niches.
But, Squarespace did their homework and made the users job easier by dividing the templates into topics to choose from: so you can find the one closest to your business.

Can I Transfer An Expired Or Expiring Domain Name
Domain names must be in good standing for transferral.

Network Solutions Transfer Domain
If you need to transfer your domain name to another registrar, you can do so by initiating a transfer at your current registrar. If you initiated the transfer and provided an authorization code, the process will complete within five days. If you did not provide an authorization code, you will need to contact your current registrar to confirm the transfer.
There are numerous domain registrars to choose from, but Network Solutions ranks near the bottom. Network Solutions will keep your domain name under lock and key for around 60 days if you make any changes to your contact information or address details. It violates ICANN guidelines, which means if you call them, they must lift the lock. Each and every domain will be handled in a different way depending on what you want to transfer. A three-day delay will occur before you are able to receive it via email. Transfer payments from one customer to another have been blocked in many cases. It is the only way to resolve the problem: contact the ICANN Complaint Office.
Network Solutions will not allow you to leave, and they will try to accommodate any reasonable excuse to keep you on their site. Until 1999, the domain name registration process was the only one available to the average person on the planet. Network Solutions provides a large number of domains with SEO-related value, as well as a large number of domain names.

Will My Website Go Down During A Domain Name Transfer
Nope!
When you transfer a domain name from one registrar to another, thats literally all youre doing. Youre not moving your email or hosting. During the domain transfer process, your nameservers dont change theyll stay pointed to the same pre-transfer nameservers.
Now, its another story if youre changing your hosting provider along with your domain registrar. If you decide to change your website host, follow these steps to avoid site downtime:
- Import your DNS records to your new hosting provider
- Double-check to make sure the DNS information is correct.
- Change the nameservers at the originating registrar.
- You may have to wait for propagation it could take 24-48 hours.
Another scenario to consider is if youre using the default nameservers of your current registrar. Many registrars offer access to free nameservers so long as your domain remains registered with them. If you decide to transfer your domain, you could lose access to those nameservers.
If youre unsure whether youre using default nameservers, ask your registrar BEFORE you transfer your domain. We recommend keeping your domain pointed to your hosting providers nameservers.
