First, you need to prove you own the domain you want to add to Microsoft 365.
Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and select Show all> Settings> Domains.
In a new browser tab or window, sign in to your DNS hosting provider, and then find where you manage your DNS settings .
Go to your provider’s DNS Manager page, and add the TXT record indicated in the admin center to your domain.
Adding this record won’t affect your existing email or other services and you can safely remove it once your domain is connected to Microsoft 365.
Save the record, go back to the admin center, and then select Verify. It typically takes around 15 minutes for record changes to register, but sometimes it can take longer. Give it some time and a few tries to pick up the change.
When Microsoft finds the correct TXT record, your domain is verified.
Add Or Edit An Spf Txt Record To Help Prevent Email Spam
Before you begin: If you already have an SPF record for your domain, don’t create a new one for Microsoft 365. Instead, add the required Microsoft 365 values to the current record on your hosting providers website so that you have a single SPF record that includes both sets of values.
On your hosting provider’s website, edit the existing SPF record or create an SPF record.Make sure that the fields are set to the following values:
- Record Type: TXT
- TXT Value: v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all
- TTL: 3600
Save the record.
Validate your SPF record by using one of these SPF validation tools
SPF is designed to help prevent spoofing, but there are spoofing techniques that SPF cannot protect against. To protect against these, once you’ve set up SPF, you should also set up DKIM and DMARC for Microsoft 365.

Verify That You Own The Domain
1. Log in to your , select your Domain, and go to the DNS section.
2. Scroll down to the Custom resource records and create the following record:

Updating And Adding Records
Copy And Add Dns Records
If you close the DNS records modal the first time we display your records, you can always come back at a later time to copy them. To copy and add DNS records:
From the DNS records modal on admin.atlassian.com, youll see 5 or 6 DNS records. To open the modal, go to your email domain entry at Settings> Emails and select See DNS records.
Open your domain provider, and find the screen where you can add DNS custom records. These records are added to the same domain that youve added in admin.atlassian.com.
Create custom records in your domain provider by copying and adding the name and value for each DNS record. Refer to the table below for more details about how to add them.
Save these records in your domain provider.
From admin.atlassian.com, select Run DNS records check or Close.Run DNS records check initiates the check immediately. It may take a few seconds for this check to complete. If you choose to close, well still run a check 24 hours from the time you add your email domain.

How To Add Dns Record To Connect Your Domain

Create Spf Dkim And Dmarc Records
For security reasons, we recommend adding SPF and DKIM records. Setting up DMARC is an optional, advanced feature.
SPF and DMARC records are set up similarly to TXT records.
1. Access the DNS section and scroll down to Custom resource records.
2. To create the SPF record, locate the verification TXT and select Edit.
Once selected, click on the + icon and enter and save this SPF value:v=spf1 include:_spf.protonmail.ch mx ~all
3. To create the DKIM record, enter the following values:

To add a second and third DKIM record, repeat these steps with the appropriate record names protonmail2._domainkey and protonmail3._domainkey.

Add An Mx Record For Email
Before you begin: If users already have email with your domain , create their accounts in the admin center before you set up your MX records. That way, theyâll continue to receive email. When you update your domain’s MX record, all new email for anyone who uses your domain will now come to Microsoft 365. Any email you already have will stay at your current email host, unless you decide to migrate email and contacts to Microsoft 365.
You’ll get the information for the MX record from the admin center domain setup wizard.
On your hosting provider’s website, add a new MX record.Make sure that the fields are set to the following values:
- Record Type: MX
- Points to address: Copy the value from the admin center and paste it here.
- TTL: 3600

Setting Up Domain Authentication
To set up basic authentication youll need to add four DNS records at your DNS hosting provider for any domain you wish to send from using your account:
MX Records: Two MX records are necessary for delivering email to your domain. MX records identify which mail servers accept incoming email for your domain.
SPF Record: One TXT record that allows app.atarim.io to sign emails sent on your behalf. SPF records identify which IP addresses are allowed to send email using your domain.
DKIM Record: One TXT record that allows app.atarim.io to sign emails sent on your behalf. DKIM signatures ensure that the message that arrives at the inbox provider is identical to the message that you sent.
Each domain you choose to authenticate must first be used in the Inbox Email Address that is configured in your account. Once added, each domain will be assigned its own values for the DNS records that need to be added to your DNS host.
To see these values, follow the Settings link in the left-hand menu in your agency dashboard account, choose Email settings from the list of settings types and then go to the domain authentication tab:
