How Do I Mark My Domain For Deletion
If you don’t want to keep your domain name, you can mark it for deletion. This is different from a grace period deletion and you will not receive any account credit if you choose to delete your domain this way.
To mark your domain for deletion before the expiration date, please follow these steps:
If your domain is set to auto-renew, please disable those settings.
Our system will automatically process your deletion 7 days after the request is made. If you change your mind about deleting your domain, you will need to cancel your deletion request before then. If your domain is close to expiration, you can also choose to set your domain to “do not renew” and let it naturally expire.
NOTE:.EU, .BE, .UK, .CA, and .AT domains cannot be marked for deletion. For .AT domains, only a signed document from the .AT registrant can cancel the registration.

Your domain will now be deleted permanently from your account. A confirmation banner will appear at the top of the page.

You may remove a domain from your hosting account if you no longer wish for it to be hosted. When you remove a domain, any website files associated with it will no longer be accessible from the web. Mailboxes associated with the domain will also be deleted and will not be retrievable after deletion.

What Happens If You Delete Your Domain
When you delete a domain, you immediately terminate your registration of that domain. As a result, the following occurs: Visitors to your domain will not see your website. You will not receive email sent to email addresses at your domain
A Vlaanderen Or Brussels Domain Name
A deleted .vlaanderen or .brussels domain name is given redemption status for 30 days first. The domain name is not active, no updates can be carried out, and the name cannot be registered by someone else during that period.
The registrar who deleted the domain name, can reactivate it. No transfer can be carried out before or during the quarantine. No reactivation is possible after 30 days. The domain name is given pending delete status for 5 days. After these 5 days , the domain name is released for registration.

Deleting A Domain Name
You may delete a registered domain name from your Control Panel within the Money Back Grace Period. Money Back Grace Period is the number of days after domain name registration, during which you may delete a domain name to receive a refund.

To delete a custom domain name, you must first ensure that no resources in your organization rely on the domain name. You can’t delete a domain name from your organization if:
- Any user has a user name, email address, or proxy address that includes the domain name.
- Any group has an email address or proxy address that includes the domain name.
- Any application in your Azure AD has an app ID URI that includes the domain name.
You must change or delete any such resource in your Azure AD organization before you can delete the custom domain name.

To delete the custom domain, use a Global Administrator account that is based on either the default domain or a different custom domain .

Set The Primary Domain Name For Your Azure Ad Organization
When your organization is created, the initial domain name, such as âcontoso.onmicrosoft.com,â is also the primary domain name. The primary domain is the default domain name for a new user when you create a new user. Setting a primary domain name streamlines the process for an administrator to create new users in the portal. To change the primary domain name:
Sign in to the Azure portal with an account that’s a Global Administrator for the organization.
Select Azure Active Directory.
Select the name of the domain that you want to be the primary domain.
Select the Make primary command. Confirm your choice when prompted.
You can change the primary domain name for your organization to be any verified custom domain that isn’t federated. Changing the primary domain for your organization won’t change the user name for any existing users.
Remove A Custom Domain
If you are canceling your subscription and you use a custom domain, there are a few extra steps that you must do before you can cancel your subscription.
Change your domain nameserver records
If you set up a custom domain, you added DNS records so the domain would work with Microsoft 365 services. Before you remove your domain, be sure to update the DNS records, such as your domain MX record, at your DNS host.
For example, change the MX record at your DNS host. Email sent to your domain stops coming to your Microsoft address and goes to your new email provider instead.

If your nameserver records are pointing to Microsoft 365 nameservers, changes to your MX record don’t take effect until you change your NS records to point to your new DNS host .

Before you update the MX record, let your users know the date you plan to switch their email, and the new email provider you plan to use. Also, if your users want to move their existing Microsoft email to the new provider, they must take extra steps.
