How Do I Redirect My Domain Name To Another Website
Follow these steps to forward your domain name to another website. It can take up to 24 hours for the domain to change.
How To Do A Specific Page Redirect With Htaccess
If you want to redirect just one page from the old domain to somewhere different, you just need one line:
Redirect 301 /old-url/ http://newdomain.com/new-url/
Replace /old-url/ with whatever comes after the domain for the URL you want to redirect from.
Then put the full URL of the destination page.
You can use this independently of the domain redirect I showed at the start.
If, instead of redirecting the entire site, you literally just wanted to redirect one URL from the old domain , then you could just put this line in the .htaccess instead of the RewriteRule line.

Add The Old Domain To The Host
While the DNS is propagating, go to where you’ll be hosting the old domain.
Assuming it’s not already setup at that host, and that it’s not the primary domain, set it up as an Addon Domain by going to Addon Domains.
Enter the old domain in New Domain Name. Everything else should be fine as default.
There’s no reason to create a new FTP account for this domain.
If everything’s good, you’ll see a success message.

Redirect Url Using Htaccess
This method consists in editing a file called .htaccess in your server and placing a specific line to make the URL redirection. Please note that the filename .htaccess really contains one . on its beginning!
This method requires FTP access to the server so that you can upload files.
Now, edit locally the .htaccess file.
You can choose one of the following code options. We will explain each one:
First alternative, redirect a specific page called /sourcepage.html to another URL:
Redirect 301 /sourcepage.html http://www.mynewdomain.com/
Second alternative, redirect the whole domain to another URL:
Redirect 301 / http://www.mynewdomain.com/
And last, redirect one file to another file, locally, in the same domain:
Redirect 301 /old/path/oldpage.html http://www.currentdomain.com/new/path/newpage.html
Redirect Multiple Domains To A Single Domain
Many brands buy multiple domain names linked to their main URL to protect their brand online. The brand is Acme Corp. In case of, it is recommended that you own acme.com, acmecorp.com, acme.net, etc.
Instead of buying a domain to prevent others from registering and leaving the domain, you can redirect to the main website. Whether its a common misspelling of an existing domain name, another top-level domain name extension, or something else, its worth redirecting to the primary site.

Two Methods Which Should You Choose
If you have an extra domain and you simply want to point it to an existing website, then Standard or Frame Forwarding is the easiest way to do that.
Maybe you need to temporarily redirect a domain that already has a website on it, without destroying those website files. In this case, you may modify your A Record if you can. However, please note the limitations of this method in the A Record section below. You may want to use the .htaccess method instead, as it works in cases where an A Record will not.
Https Redirects And Search Engine Optimization
Redirects can be permanent or temporary , both of which are unmasked redirects where the URL on the address bar changes to the destination address when a visitor enters the redirected URL.
For the purpose of better Search Engine rankings , Google recommends a 301 redirect when a page has been permanently moved to another address. This allows webmasters to pass the page authority that the old page had earned, on to the new address. This ensures that any off-page SEO efforts that may have been carried out on the old address will now accrue to the new page.
HTTPS Domain Forwarding can also have a significant impact on search engine optimization since search engines and web browsers increasingly prioritize a move towards a HTTPS web. A correctly forwarded domain name or URL with HTTPS forwarding would fulfill all the requirements that search engines require in a well configured website.

Set Up A Redirect In Cpanel
When signed into your cPanel account, scroll down to the Domains section. Find the icon for Redirects and click on it.
In the dropdown menu under Type, you can choose between Permanent or Temporary . Make your selection.
In the next dropdown menu, choose which domain youre setting up the redirect for. You can choose All Public Domains if you want the update to apply to all the domains you own, otherwise select the appropriate one from the dropdown.
Then simply fill in the page you want to set up the redirect for, and the page you want it to go to. Note that in the first box, youll only put the last part of the URL, since the root domain name is already supplied in the dropdown menu. But in the second box, put in the full URL you want it to redirect it to.
The Difference Between Permanent And Temporary Redirect
In the Redirects tool you can also choose the type of the redirect you want to set between permanent and temporary .
- Permanent redirects have a status code of 301 and are cached in the browser memory. Redirect 301 means that the initial page is permanently moved to the new URL and instructs the search engine or user agent coming to the page to update the URL in their database.
- Temporary redirects send status code 302 to the browser. The 302 code tells the browser not to save this redirect into its cached data. If you wish to use the initial URL again in the future this is the recommended type of redirect.

How To Redirect To Another Website Url
Website redirects point the old URL to the new page. If someone enters or clicks on the original URL, youll be taken to the page where you set up the redirect.
This allows visitors to find something related to what they were originally looking for, rather than getting to a 404 page. It also prevents you from losing the value of the links you create on that page. This is important for search engine optimization and the user experience of users who click on one of these links.
Knowing how to set up redirects is a valuable skill for anyone running a website. You can implement page-by-page or domain-wide redirection.
Why Use A 301 Redirect
To redirect a site permanently, one should use a 301 redirect. This type of redirect is best for SEO purposes and also informs the search engines that the site has moved permanently. If you change your domain name and want to point to a different URL, a 301 redirect is your best choice.
This is also the preferred type of redirect to use when configuring an SSL certificate where you want to redirect your site visitors from a non-secure address like http://example.com to a secure address like https://example.com.The 301 Redirect setup steps are different based on how your website was built. For WordPress users, a Plugin can be used to configure the 301 Redirect . Or you may contact us for Professional Services.Once a 301 redirect is set, the update should be instantaneous.
Note: This is only recommended for advanced users. An error could result in your website being disabled
The .htaccess editor is a powerful tool with which advanced users can customize their website. When using this tool, your first step will always be to select the domain and directory where you are applying the changes.

How To Create Url Redirects In Site Tools
Redirects allow you to forward the visitors of a specific URL to another page of your website. In Site Tools, you can add redirects by going to Domain > Redirects. Choose the desired domain, fill in the URL you want to redirect to another and add the URL of the new page destination. When ready, click Create.
How Do Website Redirects Work
In HTTP, redirections are usually triggered by the server sending a redirect response to a request. These are specific responses that take you to the correct address when you click on a sites link.
Redirect responses have status codes that usually start with three and have a location header that holds the URL to redirect to. When the browser receives a redirect, the new URL provided in the Location header loads.
We feel that its once again worth mentioning that these processes might affect your SEO ranking and credibility. Therefore, we recommend paying close attention to this guide and instructions before trying to reap the benefits of website redirects.

Point The Nameservers Of The Old Domain To Your Host
You might have space to add an addon domain at the same host you use for the destination domain. That’s typically where I prefer to host this redirect, just to keep things in one spot.
It’s perfectly fine for you to host the old domain where it was or at another host.
The main thing is it has cPanel. If it’s a Windows IIS server, Parallels or something else, the implementation will be different from what’s shown here.
In DNS Management, click “Change” next to the nameservers.
Switch from Default nameservers to Custom nameservers.
When you setup the host, you would’ve received an email listing the two or more nameservers for that hosting account.
If you can’t find the email, you might be able to find it in the sidebar of your cPanel. It will probably be listed under Primary and Secondary Nameservers.
For the purpose of this tutorial, I’ll be using
There will usually be two nameservers, sometimes three or more.
Enter the nameservers at the domain registrar as shown and click “Save”.
