How To Transfer A Domain From Godaddy
When a domain is transferred, the nameservers associated with the domain will stay the same . However, since the domain is no longer with the old registrar, the old registrars nameservers will stop responding to queries for your domain. This will cause downtime until you switch your domain to our DNS.
NOTE: If you are using a third-party DNS such as your hosting company, the domain transfer will not cause any downtime issues, because DNS server settings will not change during the transfer.
If you already have your code, log into your account, and click the banner below. If you havent, continue on to step 1 to find out how to unlock your domain.
Please dont forget to disable any GoDaddy privacy protection plan you may have in place for your domain.

Template Design And Customization Capability
Consumers are increasingly preferring to shop from their mobile phones, with 45% of shoppers completely shifting to m-commerce since March 2020. Both Shopify and Wix provide mobile-responsive templates, which means whichever platform you choose, should guarantee a great shopping experience across all devices.
Shopify comes with thousands of free and premium, paid themes in different design styles, for different industries. Each one of them is easily customizable, based on the version you choose to install paid ones, obviously offering more customizations. Paid themes begin as low as $19 and can go upwards based on what youre looking for.
On the other hand, Wix has over 800 templates, among which only 114 are e-commerce specific templates. While these templates are free to use, they dont offer much customization abilities.
As a plus, Shopify also gives you the freedom to play around with your sites code and change whatever you want in the theme file as well. This flexibility attracts many medium and large business owners looking to adapt to new design trends.
Verdict: Wix might offer free templates, but the options are very limited for eCommerce businesses and the flexibility of customization is much lower. Shopify is a better choice here.

Can I Move My Domain From Godaddy And Then Can I Connect My Gmail A/c To My Domain
- Float this Topic for Current User
Prior to joining Shopify and creating my store, I first brought my domain t8cloth.com from Godaddy.
I saw a few YouTube videos on how to do this but in each case it look like Godaddy needs to be hosting your domain. You can then use their Cpanel to set everything up.
My problem is Godaddy only sold me the domain but is not hosting so there is no Cpanel to access. So I then thought I had to buy an email address from Godaddy to go with my domain. This costs $5USD per month. This then takes me to Office 365 .and then I am totally lost. I have been using Cpanel for years but this connection to Office 365 is a pain and I regret choosing to let Godaddy handle my email.
So my question are:
1. Can I move my domain over to Shopify. Even if I have to sell/cancel/rebuy it from Godaddy so that Shopify can use it?
I want to stick with the gmail front end as its nice and easy to use.
Don here from Shopify.
While it is possible to transfer a domain to Shopify, as with all domains it is only possible to do so 60 days after it has been registered.
It would also be necessary to purchase a years subscription to this domain but this would be added to your existing registration time for this domain so you have the same cumulative total time to use that domain.
For domains hosted via Shopify, in order to add a custom domain email service, it would still be necessary to add a third-party email service.
Unlock The Domain In Your Godaddy Account
- Log in to GoDaddy, navigate to the domains menu, and then click launch for the domain you intend to transfer. If youve enabled privacy protection for the domain, youll need to turn it off before proceeding.
- After clicking Launch, youll be taken to a menu where you can manage settings for that specific domain. Click the Manage link in the Lock section, and a dialogue box will open.
- Switch the lock setting to Off, and then click Save.

After its verification, the only thing that remains to do is to set the new domain as a primary domain in your Shopify admin panel.
Does Domain Transfer Affect Website
GoDaddy is one of the largest domain name registrars and reputable hosts. Their performance is good and offers tons of web storage. However, it lacks some features like backups, SSL certificates and staging areas. Easy to use: I find their interface pretty intuitive to use, I would recommend it for beginners.
