Every website has the following two main elements: a domain name and a web hosting server. Your domain name points to the web server that hosts your site.

When a domain name is registered, the registrant acquires the right to use, renew, restore, or transfer the domain name. Quite often I have clients contact me wanting to get an existing website recreated who have no idea who owns or registered their domain name.

There are so many people who do not register their own domain names and instead allow third parties such as web developers and IT support agencies to do this for them. Never do this, always register your own domain names so you have full administrator access. Its much easier to share access with third parties than it is to try and regain access from them if circumstances change.

Two common issues arise when a domain is registered with a third party as follows:

There are two common scenario I deal with a lot and below are two step by step guides on how to manage both.

Complete The Domain Registration

As soon as you have completed the payment, youll be redirected to the control panel. Inside, there will be a setup box that youll need to fill out to complete the domain name registration.

Youll need to fill in all the fields with the correct details, such as your name, address, andcontact information. This data will be stored on WHOIS, the official domain ownership database.

After submitting your details, the domain registration will be processed.

Its possible to modify the domain ownership details using the domain management section within the control panel. Once the changes are made, you will have to confirm them via email.

What Is A Domain Name Registrar

Domain Registrars are companies that can register and maintain domain name information for customers. That is accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers .

Any place where one can register a domain name must use a domain registrar. Domain registrars make sure that there are no multiple registrations of identical domain names. Domain name registrars are also accountable for keeping the attached contact information current for the domain names registered through them. That protects the person that purchased the domain name from third-party attempts to steal said domain name.

Register Dhcp Hostnames In Unbound Dns

Now go to Services > Unbound DNS > General. Ensure you have checked the DHCP Registration and DHCP Static Mappings options . The DHCP Registration option allows hostnames from all DHCP clients to be resolvable. It will use the hostname that is set up in each devices configuration. If you have not configured a hostname for your devices, the devices will typically have a default hostname. Not all devices will have a hostname set so you may see blank hostnames on the DHCPv4 Leases page . You will not be able to access the device by its hostname until you set one

The DHCP Static Mappings option will allow hostnames to be resolved when creating a static DHCP mapping for a particular device. If you set a hostname in a static DHCP mapping with this option enabled, you will essentially be using the hostname specified in the static DHCP mapping rather than the hostname configured on the device itself. Keep that in mind if you are expecting the configured hostnames to match. As mentioned above, you can create a static DHCP mapping for any device that does not have a hostname in order to provide it with one .

If the email doesnt arrive, resend the request from the control panel. We recommend doing it immediately, as waiting for 15 days or more will lead to a temporary suspension from the registry.

First, log into your Google account and head to the Search Console page. If you want your entire domain to be crawled, enter the URL in the bar on the left. Once thats done, click Continue and youll be presented with a code. Then, copy it and do not close the tab.

Now, log into your Hostinger account, head to the hPanel, and on to the DNS Zone Editor. Under Manage DNS Records, select TXT as the Type. Unless youre only adding a specific subdomain to the Search Console, leave as the Name. Next, copy the code youve received previously as the TXT Value. We recommend leaving the TTL Value as the default. To finish it all off, click on Add Record.

Can I Transfer My Domain Name To Hostinger

Yes, its possible to transfer a domain name from another registrar to Hostinger.

However, there are a few requirements before transferring a domain to your web hosting account:

• More than 60 days must have passed from the registration or last transfer date.
• You must have the domains auth-code from your current registrar.
• The domains WHOIS privacy protection has to be disabled.
• You have to point your domain name to Hostinger.
• The domains status cannot be Pending Delete or Redemption.

To transfer a domain to Hostinger, go to the Hostinger Transfer Domain page and enter your domain name. Then click Transfer.

After finishing the order and entering the domain EPP code, the transfer process will begin and youll receive an email regarding the domain transfer that you will have to confirm.
