Yes, very until your tech guy goes quiet on you. He has a mid-life crisis, decides to get rid of all the technology he owns and travel the world alone to find himself. Or something a little less drastic.

Either way, it is critical you login immediately and update your information. Otherwise, your website and all of your services will go down, costing you significantly. But you dont know where your domains are registered, let alone if you trust your registrar. Maybe you dont even find out about all of this until its too late and your domain has already expired. Even worse, someone else swooped it up and is holding your domain hostage for a nice payday. What a nightmare!

The point is, anything could happen if a single person, outside of your organization is the sole domain admin with access to your account.

The Domain Email Account Hasnt Been Created

By default, when you first signed up for your Doteasy web hosting services, a domain email account is created for you using your accounts Member ID and password . This is your accounts admin email account and you can sign into the account from the Doteasy Web Mail sign in panel using the following information:

  • Email address: memberID@yourdomain.com
  • Password: enter the password you have submitted to us on your signup form

Simply replace memberID with the Member ID you have provided at the time of signup and replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.

While the domain admin email account is already created for you, you will need to create all your user email accounts.

Use The Registrar’s Tools

ICANN’s “Temporary Specification” requires that registrars “must provide an email address or a web form to facilitate email communication with the relevant contact , but must not identify the contact email address or the contact itself.” How this communication is being implemented is inconsistent and evolving. For example, GoDaddy currently includes a “Contact Domain Holder” link on its whois records, which includes a web form where users can “initiate an email to the address on file for the specified domain.” However, as GoDaddy warns, “we can in no way guarantee that the Registrant will comply with your Contact Request.”
