Update The Nameservers To Point To Fastcomet

The transfer needs time to process. As your previous provider should release the domain to FastComet, it is a good idea to point your domain to the FastComet nameservers or via A record to the IP address, provided to you in your Welcome email, so that be able to start working on your website.

Changing your name servers while your domain is being transferred may cause the transfer to fail. Be sure that you have updated your name servers before the transfer begins so that your domain will be working as soon as possible.

Note: When you make changes to your DNS, please allow up to 24 hours for propagation after making the change. Thus, we recommend performing no changes on your website during that time as once the propagation is over, they may not be saved on the new server.

    A Note On Dns Settings

    UNLOCK GODADDY DOMAINS

If you need to transfer an active domain name, you should move your DNS setting to Amazon Route 53 as a hosted zone first and wait for at least 48 hours to ensure that your DNS changes propagate worldwide. Afterward, transferring your domain nameââ¬â¢s registration to Amazon Route 53 will also handle your DNS settings seamlessly, and no downtime will occur because of the transfer.

    Understand Whois Information And Transfers

During the transfer-out process, if private registration or redaction is turned on, none of the information for the registrant, administrative, or technical contact will be transferred to the new registrar. For domain names with full WHOIS published, this information may or may not be transferred depending on the new registrars processes.

Upon completion of the transfer, you should re-enter and verify this information with the new registrar. This process may yield a change to registrant, administrative, or technical contact provided for the registration.

    Overview Of Squarespace Domain Management

Before you transfer, you need to keep in mind some things.

    • Once you make the transfer, you cant manage it from Godaddy. The entire domain will be managed only from Squarespace
    • Your domain needs to be at least 60 days old. This is not Squarespaces rule but a general condition for domain transfer.
    • The domain shouldnt contain Squarespace or SQSP words in it.
    • You will have to pay a one-year renewal fee when transferring. These are often referred to as transfer fees but you will get one extra year. So, if your domain expires on March 2021 and you transfer it, you will have to pay the fee and it will add one more year after transferring. So, your expiry date will be March 2022.
    • The domain must be in their supported TLDs. Dont worry, Squarespace supports almost all the TLDs.
    • The fee depends on the domain. However, the transfer fee starts at $20. For the .com domain name, the charges are $20. You can view the price list here.

    • First of all, your domain should have been registered in your current registrar at least 60 days ago. It does not matter whether you bought, renewed, or transferred the same applies, and this action should have also been at least 60 days ago.

    • Your domain TLD should be supported on AWS. Our domain has .com TLD, but if it had an unsupported TLD such as .com.tr, we would not be able to move it to AWS.

    • Some top-level domain names cannot be transferred until some changes, such as domain name owner, are completed. Your domain name should not be one of them.

If you have a regular .com domain name that you bought it at least 60 days ago and it has a valid status, you should be fine.

    • Your domain should not be locked for transfer, pending for transfer, delete, or in redemption period.
