Find Only Keyword Rich Domains
A keyword rich domain name means a domain that contains the keywords matching the actual business. Suppose a businessman wants to build a mortgage related website, he would love to find domains that contain the word mortgage.
Or he would at least buy a domain that contains words related to mortgage like house payment, finance or interest rate. I hope you got the idea.
Since you are into buying and selling domain names, it would always be a good idea to purchase only keyword rich domains. Because these domains are easy to sell and its much easier to convince the buyers.
Consider Com Domain Extensions Only
You should buy .COM TLD as this is ideal for most businesses. If you are having a business online, most of the time your customers would assume that you are using a .COM domain, not any other extensions.
So most businesses would love buying .COM domains only. More than 48% of all domains that were sold last year were .COM domains.
You can even purchase several extensions and redirect them to .COM version using 301 redirect. But if you want to sell in a particular country only, consider country-specific domains like CO.UK for UK and CO.IN for India.

How Much Money Can You Make Domain Flipping
Some people have made hundreds of thousands of dollars flipping just one, yes ONE, domain! Domains such as z.com, toys.com, and slots.com all sold for over $5 million, just for the domain name!
Now, theres a good chance you wont run into any of these domains in 2021, however, the ability to make money still exists. Even if you can purchase a domain name for $10 and sell it for $100, thats a $90 profit. Multiply that by 100 domains and you can easily make an extra $9,000 annually from this side hustle.

List Your Domain Name For Sale On Domain Marketplaces
If you made it all the way here youve already learned about the importance of capturing direct visitors to the domain name with a landing page first and foremost. But this does not mean that listing your domain name for sale on domain marketplaces wont add value. Many of the large marketplaces have repeat buyers and a so-called distribution network in which they partner with other websites such as registrars to put your domain name in front of potential buyers across the globe.
Sedo: operating since 2001 and with over 18 million domains listed, Sedo is one of the worlds largest domain marketplaces. The site itself reaches around 2 million visitors per month but they also promote your domain across a large number of partner sites. Listing your domain name for sale with Sedo is free but you pay a commision between 10 and 20% when your domain name sells.
Afternic: founded in 1999 and listing more than five million domain names available for sale and handling more than 75 million domain searches each month Afternic is a force to be reckoned with. This marketplace is owned by GoDaddy which is where it gets its big advantage over similar sites. When you list your domain name for sale at Afternic it will also show up as a premium domain when people will search for it on the GoDaddy.com website. Listing a domain name on Afternic is free but you pay 20% commission for a successful sale.

Branded Logos With Domains Are Quite Important
When you are selling a brandable domain name, its crucial to have a custom logo with it. You can hire logo designers to make creative logos for your domains to make it look way more nice at the time of selling.
Below are some awesome domain names with custom logos.
Creating a custom logo doesnt require a lot of money to be spent and it increase the chance for your domains to be sold at the highest price.
Although sometimes it gets expensive to hire high quality logo designers, most of the times you find people to do it for you for mere $5 or $10.
One of my favorite place is Fiverr. Here you can hire high quality designers paying just $5 per logo design.
You can even design your own logo yourself with a Logo Generator.
However there are many other places online where you can hire people to do it. So I dont think that it should be a problem for you.
Please note that it doesnt guarantee that your domains would be sold. But it increases the chances exponentially.

Cybersquatting Vs Domain Investing
Domain investors profit from buying and selling domain names acquired fairly and in good faith. A cybersquatter is someone who registers a domain name in bad faith and with intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. Unlike cybersquatters, successful domain investors are experienced professionals who have a well-rounded understanding of the market and the legal nuances associated with buying and selling domains.

Run Your Business As A Business
While you might not think of domain flipping as a business, it certainly is. And for that reason, you’ll want to run it just like any other business keeping track of your income and expenses.
As you acquire more and more domain names, your expenses will start to rise and you might start becoming less profitable. Try to keep your expenses low and cash flow positive to grow your business.
If you are working your business as a side hustle and don’t have a significant amount of time, you might consider hiring a VA to help you find valuable domain names.
Purchase An Expired Domain
An expired domain is a domain in which the person or company that registered the domain stopped paying for it. After this occurs, the name will become expired and typically goes into an auction. You can then bid on expired domains to purchase.
Why would you want an expired domain name?
A few reasons. The first benefit is the name itself. It’s possible to find high-value domains that are expired.
The second reason you might consider purchasing an expired domain is because of its SEO value. Just because a domain name is expired, doesn’t mean the links pointing to that domain disappear. These links can be extremely powerful in terms of SEO. By redirecting the domain to another URL, you will pass a significant portion of the link juice to the new domain.
How can you measure the amount of link juice for an expired domain?
There are multiple tools you can use that all have metrics to determine the SEO value of a domain. Two of my favorite tools, Moz and Ahrefs both have scores that are associated with a domain rating how much link juice they have.
Moz first founded the term Domain Authority that aims to depict how easy it will be for your website or domain to rank in Google. The rank is on a 100 point scale with 100 being the highest rating available. The rating considers several factors including backlinks, domain age, and more.
So what is a good domain authority?
Word of warning: its not perfect.

Domain Flipping Takes Time To Learn
Just like any other field of business, you need relevant experience to become a successful domain flipper. Buying domain names and then selling them at a higher rate is not a piece of cake. You need to stay under the radar for at least a year and learn everything related to domain flipping before you can start selling domains for a profit.
In the beginning, you will make several major blunders like losing money over useless domain names, missing prospective deals and much more but slowly, you will get the hang of it. The road to flipping domains for sums is not easy you need to climb a steep learning curve before you can become a pro.
How To Buy Domain Names
The first thing you need to understand is how to get a domain registered. Back in the day, .com and .net were extremely popular as extensions. If you got in early and purchased some domains, you are sitting on a pile of cash because some of these domain names are worth a lot today.
Go to websites like Domain.com and GoDaddy.com. Search for the keywords or the exact name you want your domain to be. This search tells you whether the domain name is available or not. In case the domain name is available, you have the option of adding it to the shopping cart. If you plan to purchase the domain, you need to see for how long do you want to register. This time is generally in years. You also get the option of purchasing add-ons like domain privacy.

Many of us have the habit of registering a domain name whenever we have a great idea for a new startup company, product, project, blog or side-business. But those ideas often remain just that, an idea. And the domain name will end up sitting dormant in your registrar account for months, years or even decades alongside an often growing family of other, unused domain names. These domain names dont have to stay dormant starting up a business is incredibly scary, but achievable.
Other reasons for owning unused domain names could be that you retired from or closed a business, decided to stop updating your blog or personal site or you acquired other companies over the years, with their domains. If so, youre probably wondering if these domains are worth anything to someone else and if yes, how you can sell your domain names?
