These are the email addresses that appear just like an ordinary email address, primarily owned by the anti-spam agencies and MSPs. They distribute these trap email addresses across the internet to check if someone is sending emails on non-opt-in users.Most of the harvested/third party email list consists of a few spam trap email addresses. Hitting even a single spam trap can influence the real-time blacklisting on your sender domain and IP address.
Even though there are a lot of different types of Spam Traps, they are mainly categorized into two base categories.
What Is Blacklisting And Why Is It Bad
An email blacklist is a tool that servers use to decide which emails should be considered spam and which shouldnt. You have blacklists to thank for why youre not constantly clearing out fake promos and financial opportunities from foreign princes in your inbox. Theyre also why you might be struggling to reach your audience.
Essentially, each blacklist serves as a filter that helps servers trap spam and keep it in the junk folder where it belongs, with various ways of parceling out the spam from the other emails being sent. This is why you might know blacklisting by its other common name: spam trapping.

As you can see above, there are 527 indexed pages in Google for our woorkup blog. If no results are returned and your pages have already been indexed by Google previously, then there is a pretty good chance that the website has been removed from their index.
If you use this method to check for a new domain, you probably wont get any result, as there are no posts or pages for Google to index yet.

Gather All The Data You Need
To check blacklist domain, you need to know such things as:
- your domain
- the emails used as senders
- domains that you are linked to.
The latter parameter is essential since if any of the domains you are linked to is considered spammy, it will affect your reputation score and drastically increase your chances to get blacklisted too. Therefore, if any of them are blacklisted, remove them from your future email immediately.
How Does Dnsbl Work With The Msp And Isp
Every MSP and ISP uses one or more DNSBL services to identify blacklist emails. They either set these services locally or use them through a remote connection. Either way, the DNSBL service uses the local DNS server to map through the domain IP to identify the emails into the list. This helps MSPs to catch hold of the incoming spam at the entry MX level itself, protecting the entire infrastructure and surely the recipients mailbox from receiving spam. The MX server generally drops these emails and sends a bounce email back to the sender address based on server policy. Which we will be discussing next.

How To Use The Ip Blacklist Email Blacklist Domain Blacklist Check To Check Your Ip Status Or Perform The Ip Blacklist Lookup
Several online tools and websites are free and check that the given URL, IP address, or email server IP is consequently listed with DNSBL or SURBL systems.

Submitting a sitemap to Google with frequent posting can help you get your posts and pages indexed faster. What To Do If Your Domain Is Listed
First, you need to make sure that whatever caused your domain to become blacklisted is no longer happening. There are a lot of possibilities, but be assured that blacklist providers won’t even consider delisting the domain unless you have a good idea of what caused it and that it is now resolved.
Second, you need to reach out to the blacklist provider who has blacklisted your domain and follow their mitigation process. There are many different blacklist/anti-spam providers and each one has their own process you need to follow. It is possible that you will need to get your hosting provider involved in both steps as you may be using shared hosting or acquired an already blacklisted domain/IP.
