How To Buy A Domain Name With Namecheap
The market is flooded with domain registrars. But Namecheap is definitely my favorite. Its super easy for anyone to buy a domain using this registrar, even if its your first time.
This method is a bit more straightforward than using Bluehost, only because youre not bundling any other servicesNamecheap is strictly for buying a domain.
The entire process can be completed in just three quick steps.
The Problem With Registration Terms:
The problem with these terms is that they tend to be riddled with many legal technicalities, which can be disadvantageous to businesses.
Having a long-term lease isnt helpful in the long run.
For example, if you still have 12 years in your contract, and youre only halfway into the contract, you wont be able to change the registry and hosting without violating the contract.
Again, if the domain name shuts down in the middle of a long lease, you still lose the money you paid for in advance.
However, if you have only two years for your registry, this would mean easier losses if you decide to change services.

Why Buy A Is Domain
When you buy an Icelandic .IS Domain it provides the strongest legal protection for webmasters and recipients of their .IS sent emails who are looking for security and privacy protection. Icelandâs cTLD and Hosting Providers are backed by some of the strongest protections of usersâ data in the world.
Plus, being able to send emails with the prestigious .IS Domain in the URL means your recipients will be more, well, receptive to your correspondence. Your âopen ratesâ may be higher as well.
That data that is stored on servers located in Iceland is protected by Icelandic law, regardless of the citizenship of the user.
In this post, I am going to go over why you need to buy not only a .IS Domain from an Icelandic Web Hosting Provider, but why you also need Icelandic Hosting along with it in order to receive the full benefits of Icelandâs legal and privacy protections that your .IS needs as well as to make it truly effective.
How Do I Choose The Best Domain Name
Great question! Here’s a few core things to consider when choosing your new domain name:

Do I Own The Domain I Have Registered
Domain names are technically digital addresses that you lease under a domain registry.
Domain registries get these domains from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers , who have control over domain names.
Hence, when you get a domain name, you are leasing it from ICANN, through a domain registry, that acts as a broker.
What happens when you register a domain name is that a domain registry checks with ICANN the domain name you plan to use and its availability.
If available, ICANN lets the domain registry award the name to you, under a lease agreement.
Avoid Numbers And Hyphens
Imagine asking your 10 friends to spell or pronounce a domain name filled with numbers and dashes. It wont work.
If you choose a domain name with these elements, youre likely going to lose traffic to people who cant remember your domain or effectively tell someone else how to find it. We probably wouldnt have Facebook today if you had to go to Face-Book.com to reach the site.

What Happens If You Forget
Forgetting to register your domain name can be a pain. Either you may lose the domain altogether and have to start over, or you will need to purchase it from a third party. And if you had an unwanted domain on auto-renew, you may end up paying for it again and having to wait years for your chance to cancel again.
What are your options if you lose your domain? Well, there might still be hope! You can check with some of the other registrars that offer “domain parking” services. Domain parking is when a company agrees not to sell or register a domain but to hold it for you until you contact them.
Most registrars will only do this with domains that are not in their systems and can be expensive, But the good news is there’s no risk of forgetting! Once your registration date comes up, they’ll notify you and then renew.
It is very easy to forget as domains are often purchased from multiple providers keeping track of where a domain is and its DNS settings can be tricky.
Many people pay for domains but forget to renew them or lose the login details. Leading to missed opportunities and lost revenue. In times like this, the service provided by Domain Mapper is invaluable.
Identify Opportunity What Is Your Domain Being Used For
It might sound straightforward but there is a lot that goes into finding the right domain name opportunity. Think about your long term goals for your company. What kind of keywords are you looking for? Is the purchase intended for business or for commerce? Is the domain youre after affiliated with established trademarks?
The first step is to visit the domain that you want. If there is a real website there and its been updated recently, then most likely the owner wont be interested in selling it. If the current site looks really outdated, theres a chance that the owner is willing to sell the domain for the right price.
On the other hand, if the domain you want has a placeholder website, then you should feel confident contacting the owner. Sometimes owners are just waiting for the right offer to come their way.

How To Buy A Domain Name In 3 Steps
Buying a domain name may seem like a daunting process. After all, there are so many domain extensions and domain name registrars to choose from, it can be quite difficult to know where to start. However, once you know what is involved in buying a domain name, the process becomes pretty straightforward.
There are three steps that you have to follow to buy a domain name:
Buying A Domain From A Standalone Domain Registrar
In most cases, going directly to a domain registrar like Namecheap will be your best option. As the name implies, these platforms specialize in domain registration.
Buying domains directly from a standalone registrar will be faster than alternative methods. Thats because youre not bundling other services, so the process is more direct.
Domain registrars also make it easier to buy domains in bulk. So if youre in the market for more than a single domain, definitely go with a registrar.
If you want alternative extensions, domain registrars will offer significantly more options. While I typically dont recommend anything other than a .com domain, some of you might want to browse through hundreds of alternative extensions.
Transferring domain names with a registrar is also easier than using a service that doesnt specialize in domain registration. So if you want to transfer your domain or think you might want to transfer it in the future, use a domain registrar.
Its usually cheaper to buy domains directly from a registrar. For starters, the domain itself will likely be less expensive. But the best registrars, like Namecheap, include WhoisGuard protection for free with the purchase of a domain. You probably wont get that from a hosting company.
The downside of getting your domain from a registrar is that theres an extra step in the process. Youll still have to get web hosting elsewhere.
