Dhcp Changing Ip Address
If like me your using Dynamic Host Control Protocol, , to dynamically allocate IP addresses on your network, just be aware that the IP Address youve configured in the Hosts file will need to be manually updated anytime your network adapter is assigned a new IP address via DHCP. So once youre up and running and then one day everything stops working check the IP address in the Hosts file Vs the IP Address assigned to your network adapter and make sure they are the same. There are ways around this, , but thats outside the scope of this article.
Delete A Custom Domain Name
You can delete a custom domain name from your Azure AD if your organization no longer uses that domain name, or if you need to use that domain name with another Azure AD organization.
To delete a custom domain name, you must first ensure that no resources in your organization rely on the domain name. You can’t delete a domain name from your organization if:
- Any user has a user name, email address, or proxy address that includes the domain name.
- Any group has an email address or proxy address that includes the domain name.
- Any application in your Azure AD has an app ID URI that includes the domain name.
You must change or delete any such resource in your Azure AD organization before you can delete the custom domain name.
Note
To delete the custom domain, use a Global Administrator account that is based on either the default domain or a different custom domain .
Configuring Cname Records With Your Hosting Provider
The steps to configure a CNAME record will differ based upon your hosting provider. You need to configure a CNAME record for each custom domain you will be using. If your site is configured to use SSL, the CNAME record should point to the CloudFront URL. See Securing a Portal Experience with SSL for information. Note that custom domains must include a subdomain in order to be configured as a CNAME ex: video must be placed before brightcovelearning.com so I can configure my CNAME.
The CNAME values are displayed as part of the Custom Domains & SSL settings.
In this example, for the custom domain of video.brightcovelearning.com , I would add a CNAME record and add a host of video and point it to d3mkhzp6k6x3hl.cloudfront.net.
Note that browsing directly to a Cloudfront URL will return a “page not found” error . A curl command can be used to verify the domain configuration. For this example:
curl -H "Host: video.brightcovelearning.com" https://d3mkhzp6k6x3hl.cloudfront.net
The curl statement should return the contents of the site home page.
You may need to contact your network administrator or web hosting provider for help with this step. Remember that it can take up to 48 hours for DNS changes to take effect.

Test Your Custom Domain
Note: It could take a few minutes or a couple hours before your custom domain is properly forwarding to your Simplecast website, but give it a little time and feel to reach out to our support team with a screenshot if you’re uncertain about your CNAME or forwarding settings.

To provide a certificate for a custom domain name in a Region where ACM is supported, you must request a certificate from ACM. To provide a certificate for a Regional custom domain name in a Region where ACM is not supported, you must import a certificate to API Gateway in that Region.
To import an SSL/TLS certificate, you must provide the PEM-formatted SSL/TLS certificate body, its private key, and the certificate chain for the custom domain name. Each certificate stored in ACM is identified by its ARN. To use an AWS managed certificate for a domain name, you simply reference its ARN.
ACM makes it straightforward to set up and use a custom domain name for an API. You create a certificate for the given domain name , set up the domain name in API Gateway with the ARN of the certificate provided by ACM, and map a base path under the custom domain name to a deployed stage of the API. With certificates issued by ACM, you do not have to worry about exposing any sensitive certificate details, such as the private key.

How To Use Redirects
Redirects can be very useful for ensuring people see your content. There’s one exception: the infinite redirect loop, which makes it impossible to visit your site.
When you own multiple domains referring to one site
If you own the three domains example.com, example.org, and example.gov, you need to choose the primary domain and attach that domain to your site. So, if my site is at example.org, I’ll redirect traffic from example.com and example.gov. This way, people will always wind up at example.org and see my content.
Root domain to www site
Your root domain, also called a naked domain, is when people type in example.org rather than www.example.org. When you point your name servers to NationBuilder, we handle this process for you. If DNS is hosted elsewhere, you’ll need to sort out redirecting the traffic since we don’t support attaching naked domains to sites on NationBuilder. While root domain forwarding is not a DNS record, most DNS providers include this service. Ultimately, youre looking to create a 301 permanent redirect .
Many web hosting companies use a single, dedicated IP address to connect a domain to a site. Our domain infrastructure pools IP addresses, providing additional protection against denial of service attacks. This is why we cannot provide an A record for domains hosted elsewhere.
If you are connecting a subdomain to your nation, e.g. action.example.org and maintaining your primary website elsewhere, then you do not have to worry about this issue.

How To Configure Custom Domain Email
Bulk email, sometimes called email marketing, is sent and handled differently than one-to-one email. For this reason, you want to be very careful when linking your custom domain to a broadcaster and preparing your nation for sending email using that domain.
The four main components of sending email from a custom domain from your nation are
1. Your domain host. This is where you purchased your domain. It is often the same as your email provider.
2. Email provider. Your provider allows you to create email addresses and it sends the one-to-one email on behalf of your domain. It is easily identifiable because it is where you go and check your inbox. Often, your provider is where you purchased your domain. You can use NationBuilder as your email provider or you can use a third party provider. Please note that you can use NationBuilder as your email provider without a custom domain.
3. Records. Think of records as the postage information you use to make sure your email is directed to the right place. Depending how your DNS is set up, you may have to add DKIM, SPF, and/or MX records to your email provider or your nation.
4. Your nations broadcaster. Your broadcaster is where you connect an email address to send or receive email from your nation.
Once this process is complete, you attach an email address to a broadcaster to send email.
Set Up Your Custom Email Domain On Icloud
Sign in to your iCloud account using your Apple ID and password and click Account Settings.
Scroll down to the Custom Email Aliases section and click Use Custom Email Aliases.
Note: Your button may say Manage instead of Use Custom Email Aliases.
Youll be asked if youd like to set this up for yourself or for you and your family. If you use Family Sharing, this allows each family member to use three email addresses for the domain. Pick Only You or You and Your Family.
Enter the domain you want to use and click Continue.
On the next screen, confirm the domain name at the top for Step 1.
Then, add any existing email addresses that you use on that domain in Step 2. If you arent currently using email addresses on the domain, you can click Skip. You can create a new email address after your finish setting up the domain.
Warning: Do not add the email addresses your family members use on that domain because this will attach the addresses to you.
If you do add an email address, click to Confirm that youve added all of the addresses necessary. Youll then be asked to verify it through an email before you can continue. So open your email app and check for the message from Apple.
Youll receive an email at each address you added. Simply click Verify to confirm the email address belongs to you.
Then, head back to the iCloud screen and click OK after you verify the email address.
When you see the subsequent confirmation, click Done and youre finished.
