The Difference Between A Url And Domain
A websites URL will always include the sites domain name. However, as you can see, there are several other sections of the URL that are required to access any resource or page of a website.
The domain name directs users to the homepage of the website, and it wont include the protocol, file name, directory or subdomain if one exists.
While there is only one domain name for a website, there can be an endless number of URLs.
Every page, image and other media on your website has a unique URL. As the name suggests, Universal Resource Locators are used to pinpoint and render your websites unique assets.
How Do You Sell A Godaddy Domain
The process is very simple, just buy your domain name from Godaddy. Purchase a subscription to the Godaddy auction at Buy & Sell Distinctive Domains GoDaddy. List your domain in the appropriate category with Request a quote. Buyer Like a domain, he/she will buy a domain, and when the domain is sold, it will look like this.
Godaddy Claims That It Keeps Your Site Protected But It Doesnt
GoDaddy claims that its website security program checks and protects your website from malware and other potential security violation.
But in reality, it doesnât seem to mind much if malware is spreading around on their servers.
Most hosts temporarily block users who make too many incorrect log-in guesses or users who use POST repeatedly.
But with GoDaddy, it allows users or bots to endlessly pound on login screens trying to guess passwords. Yikes!

What I Looked At To Find The Best Domain Registrar
Finding a good domain registrar is a task Im very familiar with.
I dont always pick the same one, because certain domain registrars are better to use in different situations.
Lets go through your options.
There are basically three ways to get a domain name:
Domain registrars handle the tech side of assigning IP addresses to domain names and reserving domain names as well.
Popular domain registrars include Domain.com and Namecheap. Both of these sites make it incredibly easy to find and purchase an available domain name.
In order to get your site online, however, you need to get web hosting in addition to a domain name.
Some great web hosting providers, like Hostinger, offer domain names bundled with hosting.
If you already have a web host you like, I recommend using a domain registrar.
But if you dont currently have web hosting for your site or you arent thrilled by the quality of your current hosting situation, Id go with Hostinger.
The third option, domain resellers, are exactly what they sound like. They resell domain names in partnership with domain registrars, but resellers typically charge extra so they can make money, too. Also, they usually dont have dedicated support.
For these reasons, I dont recommend buying through a reseller.
All of the recommendations on my list are domain registrars, with the exception of Hostinger.

Godaddy Alternatives For Web Hosting: The 3 Best Companies
Bluehost is a hosting company that has really built their reputation on shared hosting and customer service, which are two things that they do quite a bit better than GoDaddy. When you look at why Bluehost is better than GoDaddy, these are really the top two categories that stand out. Lets look at each one individually
Bluehost absolutely squashes GoDaddy in the support category as they are one of the only shared hosting companies left that offers U.S. based telephone support 24/7 for all of their products. Yes, if you want phone support for domains with GoDaddy, you can talk to someone in the U.S., but if you need U.S. based phone support for hosting youre out of luck. Youre stuck on chat talking to someone whos been outsourced overseas and generally has no idea how to solve any of your problems. Their chat support is absolutely terrible and their ticketing system is very slow from our experience.
We arent big fans of GoDaddys shared hosting as their servers tend to be overloaded and quite slow. Theyve also been subject high profile hacking attacks and other various problems. It seems as if theyve built their reputation on being a domain registrar, and then added hosting as a commoditized afterthought.
Our recommendation? Go with Bluehost as fast as you can!

How Do I Request A Refund For My Godaddy Purchase
You can request a refund for your GoDaddy purchases by contacting Customer Service. Remark. To receive a refund, you must cancel the product, service, or domain for which you wish to receive a refund. To chat with your support team, go to their contact page and click Chat Now. If online chat is not available, see Call them for support phone numbers on the same page.
Connect Your New Domain
To make your site appear at your new URL, youll need to connect your domain to your web hosting provider. This requires you to update your domain name server, or DNS. Basically, that just means that youre linking your domain to the numerical IP address where your website is actually hostedbut its okay if that doesnt mean much to you because were going to walk you through the process.
You should already be signed into your GoDaddy account since you just bought your domain, but make sure youre logged in and on your account page. Then go to your domain management options youll find them by going to My Products, then Domains, then Manage.
There, you should see a page labeled Manage DNS. Click on that, and it will show you some records about your DNS. Scroll down the page a bit until you see the Nameservers section. Your domain will be set to default nameservers, but you want to use custom. So select the custom option, and then two fields will appearthats where youll enter in your new DNS information.
Youll get your nameserver address from your hosting provider. Usually, it will send you an email with your DNS if you cant find that, just look in your account tools.
Once youve entered the changes, go ahead and save, and youre done. Dont get too excited thoughit will take a day or two for everything to update, so your website wont show up properly at first.

Network Solutions Review The Best For Long
Network Solutions offers the full range of services a company needs to establish and maintain a professional presence online. That doesnt separate the company from other domain registrars like Namecheap and Domain.com, but Ill tell you what does.
You can register your domain for a century with Network Solutions. Im not kidding. If you want, the company will let you sign up for 100 years.
Let your great-grandkids worry about the renewal.
I understand that option is not for everyone, but Network Solutions also offers 20-year registrations. This is twice as long as you can get with other vendors.
Every day, hundreds if not thousands of domains fail to get renewed. For companies with a brand or identity tied to their domain, this is a nightmare. Best case scenario, they are able to buy their domain out of redemption, which can be like $200 or more.
But if their registration is expired for long enough, they might lose their domain altogether. This is bad news, especially if they have sunk a ton of time and energy into building their site and online presence.
So if you are looking for a long-term domain registration to avoid these type of headaches and hassles altogether, Network Solutions offers you peace of mind like no one else.
One potential downside to Network Solutions is that there is not much more than your domain included. Whereas other vendors throw in domain forwarding, SSL certificates, and such, Network Solutions does not.

What Is A Domain Name And Why Is It Important
A domain name is the physical name of a website, and its arguably the most important part of your website. Much like your physical address or a phone number, there cannot be two identical domain names.
The backend of domain names can only be accessed and used by the domain name owner known as the domain name registrant . Domain names can also be bought and sold like assets in domain name auctions.
A domain name is the combination of letters, number and symbols someone types in their browser to access a specific web address directly.
For example, if you wanted to visit GoDaddys website, you couldnt access it by typing GoDaddy in your browser that would simply provide you search results for GoDaddy and would not render the actual website. Instead, you need to type the domain name GoDaddy.com in the browser to navigate to GoDaddys website.
A domain name is an easier way to browse the internet and access a specific website instead of using an IP address, which is the convoluted strings of numbers and letters computers use to recognize a website.
Because a domain name is meant to make it easier for people to visit your website, its important to keep it simple and memorable.
Picking the perfect domain name can have a critical role in how well your website performs.
Why Is The Domain Name System Important
Machines and humans communicate differently. While we might prefer letters and words, computers use numbers to communicate back and forth. Fortunately, the internet was designed to accommodate these different preferences through DNS resolution.
If we were asked to remember the IP addresses to any website we wanted to visit, it would be overwhelming and cumbersome. It would be like trying to memorize all your contacts phone numbers and needing to input the entire number in your phone whenever you wanted to call or text that person. It just wouldnt be efficient.
However, thanks to DNS, users only need to remember the domain name.
DNS resolution occurs in milliseconds so the user never recognizes that the process is occurring.

Godaddy Hosting Is Slow
In 2010, iThemes, one of the worlds most significant WordPress theme development companies, blasted GoDaddy Hosting for their terrible service and support.
Their blog is a perfect description of the disappointments and issues with GoDaddy Hosting. I couldnt say it better, so be sure to check it out the iThemes blog post in its entirety.
The fact is that their hosting is poor, and that costs us and our customers time that could be better spent working on projects that make money or doing something more enjoyable than pulling our hair out.
