Configure A Custom Smtp Server

  • Go to Settings > Workspace Settings.
  • Click Email, click Custom SMTP Settings, and then click Add Custom SMTP Server.
  • Select Other SMTP and click Continue to set up.
  • Fill out the form with your server address, port, and credentials. You cannot use port 25.
  • Click Finish set up.
  • If you havent added a Sending Domain yet, youll need to do that before you can send email from Customer.io.

    When using custom SMTP, you do not need to authenticate your domain in Customer.io. However, you should check your custom SMTP providers documentation to see if you still need to add DNS records to your domain to use their services successfully.

    Branded link tracking with custom SMTP

    If you want to use branded custom link tracking in Customer.io , you must verify the domain by adding the CNAME record shown in the Domain Settings section of your workspace.

    The CNAME record will not validate your domain for branded link tracking if your domain has a HSTS policy, but does not currently have SSL coverage. Please see our HTTPS Link Tracking documentation for more information on getting this set up.

    How Can I Import My Old Emails

    If your old emails are still available in your account, they will automatically be imported. IMAP protocol syncs your emails and folders with the email server, making it possible to manage your emails on any device that is connected to your account.

    Once you add your domain.com account to Mailbird, it will grant you access to your emails immediately, no further action is required.

    Note: If your emails are from your local server, it wont be possible to import them because of IMAP protocols.

  • Click test connection and save when the fields are complete. The data is saved if the connection is successful. If an error occurs, the configuration information is not valid and an error message appears.
  • Click edit in the first section of the page.
  • In the Deliver E-Mail Notifications Using dropdown list, select External SMTP Server.

    How To Enable Smtp

    Enabling your SMTP requires that you implement two separate steps: configuration and activation. Configuration involves changing your email preferences to accept external requests. Activation simply allows your email provider to identify and verify your identity.
