How to Transfer a Domain Name From One Registrar to Another EASY!

To make sure your domain name can be transferred, sign in to your current Registrar and check the following:

  • The initial registration of the domain name was at least 60 days ago and the domain has been with your current Registrar for at least 60 days:

Per ICANN’s Policy on Transfer of Registrations between Registrars, domains that are less than 60 days old or were transferred between Registrars within the last 60 days cannot be transferred. Please wait at least 60 days before transferring.

  • The domain name is not on hold with your current Registrar.

Even once they have done their part the domains need to propagate across the world so everyone sees the same thing.     Update Your Contact Information

    How to Move / Transfer Domain FROM GoDaddy to Another Host (Namecheap)

    Transfer your domain from GoDaddy to another registrar by using our transfer away checklist. You won’t be able to transfer your domain away if it’s within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, or if a 60-day lock was applied after updating domain contact information. You’ll need to verify your identify to confirm the transfer if your domain has Domain Protection enabled.

  • Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center.
  • Select your domain to access the Domain Settings page.
  • Under Additional Settings, select Transfer domain away from GoDaddy. You won’t be able to transfer your domain within 60 days of these events:
  • Initial registration
  • Transfer from different registrar
  • Change to first name, last name, organization or email on the registrant contact information
