How to Connect Custom Domain Email with Gmail & Yahoo Mail | Access Custom Email Accounts from Gmail

Once youve verified your domain name, you also need to add another type of record called MX records so that Google Workspace can manage the email for your domain name.

You can do this via the same interface where you added the TXT record. Or, many web hosts include a built-in tool to help you add the Google Workspace MX records.

How To Access Email From Your Domain In Gmail

From your Gmail inbox, go to settings> accounts and import> check mail from other accounts > add a POP3 email account you own. A new window will open. Enter the email address youd like to access via Gmail .

On the next screen you will be asked to enter your username, password, and POP3 server. Now depending on your host, this information will likely differ.

For A Small Orange and Bluehost use the following settings:

Username: yourname@yourdomain.com

Password: the one you created when you setup your domains email

POP3 server: your servers hostname

Port: 995

Check off always use a secure connection.

If youre not sure of your servers hostname, you can find it by going to the email section of your control panel. There should be a drop down next to your email address with a link to configuration settings. Click on that and your exact settings will be there.

For other hosts, look for a configure email client link in your email account section of your control panel. Each host has different requirements for username, POP server, and port so the above info might differ for you.

On this screen youll have to enter your settings again, but they will differ from those you entered earlier.

For A Small Orange and Bluehost, use the following settings:

Username: yourname@yourdomain.com

Password: the one you created when you setup your domains email

Port: 465

Remove Your Old Pop3/imap Account

With all your data transferred and Outlook.com automatically collecting your new emails, you can remove your old POP3 or IMAP account from Outlook and set the Outlook.com mailbox as the main mailbox if it isnt already.

  • Set your Outlook.com account as the default account.
  • File-> Account Settings-> Account Settings-> select your Outlook.com account-> button: Set as Default
  • If you are using a Send Only POP3 account, then it is recommended to set/leave this as the default.
  • In that same dialog box, set your Outlook.com mailbox as the default Data File.
  • tab: Data Files-> select your Outlook.com mailbox-> button: Set as Default
  • Accept any warning you might get about changing your default Mail Delivery Location.
  • Restart Outlook.
  • Return to the Account Settings dialog box from step 1.
  • Select your POP3 or IMAP account and press Remove.
  • Optionally Switch to the Data Files tab and remove the pst-file from your POP3 account .
  • Set your Outlook.com mailbox as the default data file and optionally remove your pst-file.

    Your Email Client Configuration Info

    In order to successfully setup your domain email accounts on your Windows 10 Mail app, you will need to have the following information:

    • Domain email address and password
    • Incoming mail server and port information
    • Outgoing mail server and port information

    Setting Up Domain Email Accounts On Office 365

    Once Office 365 has verified your domain ownership, you can start setting up your domain email address via your Office 365 Admin Center control panel.

  • In the Office 365 setup wizard, after youve verified your domain ownership, you can update the email addresses for yourself and other people already on your Office 365 account. You will be asked to sign out of your Office 365 account to complete the update.
  • Once youve signed back into your Office 365 Admin Center with your updated email address , you will be prompted to add anyone who has an email address at your domain. Make sure you add all your domain user email accounts so that you dont lose any emails when you switch from Doteasy to Office 365.
  • When ready, click Add these users to complete this step.
  • Once you have added your users, you will need to make the necessary MX record changes. Select the No, I have an existing website and prefer to manage my own DNS records option. When ready, click Next.

    *NOTE: If you choose the Yes, I want to transfer DNS management in the next step, you will be changing your entire DNS records to Office 365, which includes your email services as well as website hosting and other services. If you already have a website setup with Doteasy, it will cause disruption to your website.

  • You can leave the default settings on the next step. Click Next to continue.

  • Enter your account username. Your username is your full email address

  • Enter your accounts POP server information. This is the Incoming Server information on your View Email Client Info settings. Make sure you enter the correct mail server name and the corresponding port number.

    If you are using the Secure SSL/TLS settings, make sure you select Port 995 from the Port drop-down menu.

    If you are using the Non-SSL settings, select Port 110 from the Port drop-down menu.

  • Select the desired options:
  • Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server check the box if you are also accessing your emails on another email client or device , otherwise the emails in your domain email account will be deleted and you will only be able to access them in Gmail
  • Always use a secure connection when retrieving mail if you are using the Secure SSL/TLS settings, then you need to check the box. If you are using the Non-SSL settings, then uncheck the box.
  • Label incoming messages check the box if you have more than one email account set up in your Gmail this way, you can easily see which emails in your inbox come from your domain email account.
